Who can be a member?

We welcome new members who want to be part of North Kernow Community Housing and share our aims to see the creation and preservation of affordable homes and community assets. Our membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who:

• Lives in North Kernow Community Housing’s area of benefit; or
• has a business based in the area of benefit for at least the past 5 years, or where at least 50% of the employees have their principal residence in the area of benefit; or
• Anyone who does not live in the area of benefit but has a family member who is already a member of North Kernow Community Housing; or
• If someone doesn’t fit into any of the above categories but would like to be a member and has a clear reason to do so (e.g- is passionate about affordable housing and wants to support the endeavours of North Kernow Community Housing) then the Board of Trustees will review on a case by case basis.

How much does it cost?

Lifetime membership costs £1.

How do I become a member?

Just complete the form below and make a £1 payment either via the paypal link, or via cheque made payable to North Kernow Community Land Trust Ltd. We will then issue a share certificate to you.

What happens once I’m a member?

You will then be a shareholder in North Kernow Community Housing. Shareholding members are invited to an annual general meeting where the Board of Trustees is elected from the membership. During the year you will receive updates from us and call outs for ways to participate in our activities. We are also keen to hear from our members, so you are welcome to get in touch with us too.

Application for a membership share (Individual applicant)

    - I, the undersigned, whose details are set out overleaf, apply to become a member of North Kernow Community Land Trust Limited (the Society).

    - I am over the age of 18 years and have not previously been expelled or removed from membership of the Society.

    I am eligible for membership because (tick the box as appropriate):

    my principal residence is within the Society’s Area of Benefit; orI have, continuously for at least the past 5 years, carried on a business that is based within the Area of Benefit or, if based elsewhere, at least 50% of the employees of which have their principal residence in the Area of Benefit; orI do not personally qualify under category A or B but am a close family member of someone who does and who is themselves a member of the SocietyI do not personally qualify under category A B or C but am able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Board, for the reasons set out below, that I have a real and meaningful commitment to the success of the Society’s aims

    - I understand that the Board may at any time request evidence of eligibility.

    - I agree that I will pay the Society the sum of £1.00 for my share. I understand that I will not be recorded as a member until that has been paid.

    - I support the aims and objects of the Society and agree to abide by its Rules and any Code of Conduct and policies laid down from time to time by the Board.

    - I agree that I will not use my membership as a platform for political purposes.
